  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) red wine
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick, about 3 inches (7.5 cm) long
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) vanilla extract
  • 3 ripe Bartlett pears, peeled, cored and each cut into 8 wedges
  • Preparation
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, bring all the ingredients to a boil. Simmer for 5 minutes or until the pears are tender and the wine is syrupy. Let cool completely.
