Ingredients
  • 1 cup (250 ml) corn flour
  • 2/3 cup (150 ml) flour
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) sugar
  • 2 teaspoons (10 ml) baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup (250 ml) buttermilk
  • 12 sausages
  • 12 wooden skewers
  • Preparation
  • Preheat the oil in the deep fryer to 180°C (350°F).
  • In a bowl, combine the flours, sugar, baking powder and salt. Make a well in the centre and place the egg and buttermilk. Blend until it is smooth.
  • Slide the skewers into the centre of the sausages. Coat well in the batter, one by one. Fry, two sausages at a time, until the batter is golden brown, about 5 minutes. Keep warm.
  • Repeat with the remaining sausages. Serve with a choice of mustards.
