8 3-inch (7.5-cm) deep and 3.5-inch (9-cm) in diameter clay pots
In a bowl, combine the butter and garlic. Generously brush the inside of pots with the softened plain butter, then cover the bottom of each pot with parchment paper.
Cut the bread dough into 8 pieces. With your fingers, flatten each piece into a 20 x 5-cm (8 x 2-inch) strips. Brush each strip with the garlic butter.
Roll each strip onto itself to create small cylinders. Place each roll of dough vertically in a clay pot.
Place on the rack in the middle of the oven. Place a bowl of boiling water in the oven. Close the door and let the dough rise for about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Remove the pots from the oven. Preheat the oven to 190 °C (375 °F).
Put the pots in the oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until their content is golden brown. Serve warm.
