Ingredients
  • 2 cups (500 ml) water
  • 1 cinnamon stick of about 2-inch (5-cm) long
  • 10 whole green cardamom pods
  • 10 cloves
  • 8 black peppercorns
  • A few thin slices of fresh ginger
  • 2 cups (500 ml) whole milk
  • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) strong unflavoured black tea (Darjeeling, for example)
  • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) sugar, to taste
  • Preparation
  • In a saucepan, add the water and spices. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Add the milk, tea and sugar. Bring to a boil again and simmer for about 5 minutes or a little more to get a drink with a thicker texture. Strain and pour into cups.
