Ingredients
  • 1 lb (450 g) lean ground beef
  • ¾ lb (340 g) Italian sausage meat
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) olive oil
  • 2 small onions, finely chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 can (5.5 oz/156 ml) tomato paste
  • 1 can (28 oz/796 ml) diced Italian tomatoes
  • 1 can (28 oz/796 ml) tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes in purée
  • ½ cup (125 ml) chicken broth
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp celery salt
  • 1 clove
  • Preparation
  • Preheat the pressure cooker on the Sauté function for 2 minutes. Brown the beef in 2 tbsp (30 ml) of the oil, breaking it up with a wooden spoon. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside in a bowl.
  • Brown the sausage meat, breaking it up with a wooden spoon and adding more oil as needed. Add the onions, carrots, celery and garlic and cook for 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Add the tomatoes, tomato sauce, broth, oregano, celery salt, clove and ground beef. Mix well, then add the tomato paste without stirring. Cover and select the Meat function.
  • Let the pressure release and remove the lid. Adjust the seasoning and mix well to combine. Serve with your favourite pasta.
