20 small wooden skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes
Preparation
In a saucepan, cover the mussels with 2.5-cm (1-inch) of water. Cover and bring to a boil. Cook for about 5 minutes or until the mussels open. Remove the mussels from their shells. Discard any unopened mussels.
Cut the prosciutto into strips the same width as the mussels.
Place a basil leaf on each piece of prosciutto, then wrap around each mussel.
Thread 3 wrapped mussels on each skewer.
Preheat the broiler. Place the skewers on a baking sheet and cook for a few minutes in the highest position of the oven, just enough to warm the skewers.
