Ingredients
  • 2 cups (500 ml) unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) salt
  • 1 cup (250 ml) cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) milk
  • 1 egg
  • Preparation
  • In a food processor, combine flour, sugar and salt. Add butter and pulse until it is the size of peas. Add milk and egg and pulse until a ball begins to form. With your hands, form into a disc.
  • On a floured work surface, roll out dough into a 3 to 5-mm (1/8 to ¼-inch) thick sheet. Cut thirty-six 6-cm (2¼-inch) discs and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • With the rack in the lowest position, preheat the oven to 200 °C (400 °F).
  • Bake for about 15 minutes or until pastry is golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool completely.
