Ingredients
  • 1 341 ml white ale
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) water
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) instant yeast
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) sugar
  • 2 cups (500 ml) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup (75 ml) unsalted butter, melted
  • Preparation
  • In a bowl, combine the beer, water, yeast, and sugar. Let stand for 5 minutes.
  • In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the egg and vanilla to the beer mixture. Add the dry ingredients and beat for 2 minutes. Add the butter and beat until the batter is smooth. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let rest for 1 hour in a warm place without air drafts.
  • Preheat the waffle iron. Pour 250 ml (1 cup) of the batter at a time (for two waffles) and close the device (or as recommended by the manufacturer). Cook for about 5 minutes or until golden brown. Keep warm. Repeat with the remaining batter.
